Exciting because there is the prospect of getting the job that could come with great benefits, nerve-wracking for several reasons, the main being lack of control and uncertainty. Speaking of uncertainty, I vividly recall my first interview. I expected a lot of things but not being interviewed on the spot. I was making several applications to different companies however none responded positively. I was on the verge of giving up when my aunt gave me a call. She proceeded to give me a contact to a communication expert who had founded his own company.
For some reason, I thought it would be a breeze considering the recommendation. Dear readers, that was not the case. I made the call expecting a request for my resume and cover letter and a scheduled time and place for the interview. Little did I know that the interview was to begin immediately after my introduction and the purpose for calling was out of the way. The interviewer proceeded to fire a barrage of questions leaving me scrambling to catch my breath and compose my answers. I was so close to hanging up the call and fabricating a flimsy excuse such as a bad network or my airtime depleted. T for tough! Long story short, the interviewer was kind and gave me tips that I follow like the holy word to date.
